By participating on a Council, Committee or Task Force, our volunteers have an opportunity to work with top business, professional, and community leaders. Chamber volunteers gain sales and public relations exposure, and receive valuable leadership and management experience while meeting in groups and determining issues and actions of common interest.
Committees/Task Forces:
Public Affairs Council
The Public Affairs Council (PAC) relentlessly explores issues and advocates on behalf of business. PAC studies relevant issues, drafts policy proposals and advocates positions on behalf of member firms. We partner with local and statewide organization to make sure the voice of business is heard.
The Convention & Visitors Bureau
The Convention & Visitor’s Bureau (CVB) increases visitation and strengthens the economic base of the county by promoting a positive image of Mark Twain Country as a tourist destination.
Business Education Roundtable
The Chamber’s Business Education Roundtable (BER) cultivates a crucial dialogue between members of the local business and education communities. As we navigate Workforce Development and Skills Training issues in the Southern Tier Region to develop the workforce of the future, the relationship between business and education becomes even more critical to our success.
Member Services Council
The Member Services Council (MSC) is a volunteer group of Ambassadors of the Chemung County Chamber of Commerce. Ambassadors communicate with members and prospects to discuss benefits of membership, current initiatives of the Chamber, networking opportunities, and more. They assist in the retention and expansion of the Chamber’s membership by fostering relationships within the business community.
Golf Tournament Task Force
The Golf Tournament Task Force meets monthly, April through September, to organize the Annual James V. Clune Jr. Memorial Golf Tournament. Through coordinating details, making contacts with possible sponsors and door prize donors, and assisting during the event in August, members of the task force are an essential component to the continued success of this engaging event.
ATHENA® Task Force
The ATHENA Leadership Award® was inspired by the goddess of Greek mythology known for her strength, courage, wisdom, and enlightenment. The Award is unique in both scope-local, national and international and the ATHENA mission upon which it is based. The ATHENA Leadership Award® is presented to a woman —or man— who is honored for professional excellence, community service and for actively assisting women in their attainment of professional excellence and leadership skills.
Leadership Chemung Committee
Leadership Chemung is overseen by a committee of business community members, all of whom are graduates of the program, dedicated to continuously developing helpful and dynamic curriculum.
